University of Alabama Defender Bryce Young Goes Home This Year’s Heisman Trophy

After securing a nearly $1 million deal (Name, Image and Likes) ARE NOT earlier this summer, quarterback for the University of Alabama Bryce Young closed the year by winning the coveted Heisman Trophy, awarded to the best player on the college football team.

According to The Heisman Trophy website, second year midfielder defeat Michigan’s . Finalist Teammates Aidan Hutchinson, Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett, and the State of Ohio CJ Stroud. Young is the second consecutive Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama, along with former teammate DeVonta Smith.

Other Heisman winners for Alabama are running Derrick Henry who won the award in 2015 and Mark Ingram, who won the award in 2009.

“Yes, it was crazy,” Young said after winning the award. “You dream about moments like that. It is surreal for such a thing to happen. You know, it’s definitely a whirlwind of emotions to hear your name and then compose yourself to say it, so it’s really surreal, and it’s really an honor and a blessing. ”

Young led his team to a 12-1 record while winning the 2021 SEC championship and helping claim the top seed in the upcoming College Soccer Round. He also won the Maxwell and Davey O’Brien awards last week. To complete the accolades, Young won the Associated Press college football player of the year award. He passed 4,322 yards and 43 touchdowns with 314 of 462 passes (68.0%) in his first year as Alabama’s starting quarterback.

According to NFL.com, in his acceptance speech, Young said about being counted out and having to prove yourself.

“I have always been labeled as a non-archetype, as an African-American quarterback and quoted unemphasized and not that archetype, I am always disqualified and disqualified. People have told me so many times that I won’t be able to do it. And for me, it always happens, not really proving them wrong but proving to myself what I can accomplish. ”
