Ukrainian refugee in Bradford love triangle says ‘I’m not a homewrecker’

A Ukrainian refugee has insisted “I’m not a home demolitionist” after her British host left his partner for her.
Sofiia Karkadym, 22, moved in with Tony and Lorna Garnett after they offered to sponsor their stay in the UK, but 10 days later the blonde IT worker was accused of trying to break up the couple.
Lorna was so furious at the situation that she asked Sofiia to leave the family home in Bradford, but Tony said: “If she goes, I’ll go.”
Tony and Sofiia have now moved in with his parents, but she says nothing happened between the two until they left together.
Sofiia, who fled Lviv and crossed to Poland when her homeland was devastated by Russian troops, told The Sun: “I’m not a home demolitionist. That’s b*****t.’
Sofia said the situation was complicated but added: “We know what happened between us. It was my choice to go when I did and Tony decided to come with me.
Sofia said she has been accused of discouraging British families from taking in Ukrainian refugees.
“Any British family will now be thinking, ‘I can’t take a refugee because she’s going to take my husband away from me’.” It’s not just about me, Tony and Lorna.
“It’s deeper. It’s about everything, about the war, about refugees, about helping people, about everything.”
Tony, 29, previously told The Sun how the couple “just clicked” and hit it off right away – partly because he could speak Slovak, which is similar to Ukrainian.
He also said that while they “got along brilliantly,” they were “innocent” and “no more than that.”
They searched for a property together and initiated the process for a permanent visa for Sofia.
