Ukraine-Russia: Explosions in Ukrainian cities on New Year’s Eve

Air raid sirens ring out in Ukrainian cities as Vladimir Putin’s forces attack the war-torn country on the last day of 2022.
At least one person is believed to have been killed and several injured in Kyiv, where at least 10 blasts have been reported.
Explosions were also reported from Mykolaiv in the south of the country and Khmelnytskyi in the west.
“The occupiers decided to spoil our day,” Mykolaiv Governor Vitaly Kim said on Facebook.
In his nightly address on Friday, President Zelenskyy said: “This year there are still two days left. Perhaps the enemy will try again to trick us into celebrating the New Year in darkness.
“Perhaps the occupiers are planning to make us suffer with the next strikes in our cities.
“But no matter what they decide to do, we know one thing about ourselves: we will survive. We will. We will evict them.
‘There’s no doubt about that. And they will be punished for this terrible war.’
