The Glastonbury Festival returns after a lengthy hiatus and will draw hundreds of thousands to Worthy Farm for the five day event.
While the weather hasn’t been so forgiving in the past, revelers seem to be in luck this year as weather forecasters have forecast largely sunny conditions with a few showers.
The festival will get off to a good start with highs of 23C and a chance of rain of less than 5% on opening day next Wednesday 22 June, the Met Office forecast.
But hay fever sufferers are warned that a “very high” pollen count can also be expected.
Thursday is looking just as hopeful, with temperatures expected to hit 23C again and conditions to stay dry.
From Friday it will start to cool down, the morning will start cloudy. As the day progresses, the sun is expected to come out in the late afternoon and highs of 20°C are predicted.
The weekend may bring its first shower of rain as light showers are expected on Saturday morning and will last for most of the day.
The drizzle is accompanied by some sun and keeps temperatures at a balmy 18C.
While the Met Office is yet to release its forecast for Sunday, the BBC predicts sunshine will return for the final day of the festival.
The last Glastonbury Festival took place in 2019 after a fallow year.
It was due to return in 2020 for its 50th anniversary, but organizers were forced to cancel this festival and the one that followed it due to the Covid pandemic.
Instead, a variety of acclaimed sets by canceled artists aired over the anniversary weekend.
In 2021, Glastonbury streamed a recording of that year’s act performing at Worthy Farm in the absence of the festival.
Months later, organizers began confirming the lineup for this episode, which includes Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney, and Megan Thee Stallion.
