TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad are expected to announce an alliance later today to jointly develop a new range of electric two-wheelers. According to the latest report, the two partners will co-develop an electric vehicle platform to manufacture a wide range of two-wheeler EVs in India, from scooters to motorcycles. The new EV two-wheeler will be manufactured in India at TVS Motor Company’s production facilities and will be sold in India, as well as exported to other parts of the world. carandbike has been in touch for confirmation and an official announcement is expected later today.
TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad have entered into an existing partnership to develop a 313 cc joint platform, manufactured by TVS at its production facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Under this partnership, TVS produces the BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS, which are sold in India and overseas markets, and TVS has the flagship Apache RR 310 super sports car.

The new EV partnership is expected to play out similarly, with BMW Motorrad providing R&D as well as technical expertise, and TVS Motor Company providing its own input to the common EV platform. The production will be handled by TVS. More details are expected soon.
