Trooper shoots person in North St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS — An investigation is underway after a police officer shot and killed a person who was running from a car in northern St. Louis County on Wednesday.

The shooting happened at an unknown time near Halls Ferry and Chambers streets.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Drug and Crime Control Division is investigating the incident but did not release many details. Investigators say an officer conducted a traffic stop and one person began running from a traffic stop vehicle. A police officer fired a gun, hitting the person in the arm.

The shooting victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Further details about what led to the shooting are not available at this time. No names had been announced as of Wednesday afternoon.
