Trooper finds a body on an East St. Louis street

EAST ST. LOUIS, Illinois — An Illinois state police officer found a body this morning while on patrol in East St. Louis.

The officer was near the intersection of 9th Street and Winstanley Avenue at approximately 9:20 a.m. At that point, the police officer saw someone lying on the street.

The injured person was taken to the hospital. There they were pronounced dead.

This is an evolving story. The cause of death or the identity of the victim have not yet been released by police.
