Toronto: Moment Boys Are Nearly Hit By Train After Walking On Railroad Tracks

Terrifying footage shows the moment two boys were seconds away from being hit by a train – but managed to hastily jump out of the way.

Another child clung to the side of a fence at the edge of a bridge after the group stepped onto train tracks in Toronto.

The three children were thankfully not seriously injured in the dangerous incident.

But transport bosses have released the footage as a warning to potential copycats.

A Milton Line GO crew member spotted the boy on the bridge as he approached the Humber River flyover at Etobicoke near Dundas Street West.

The train “nearly” missed him before staff stopped the other two schoolboys who were running on the tracks “as if they were trying to escape the train”.

Tragedy was hardly avoided when the horn blew and emergency brakes were applied.

Metrolinx, the government agency that manages Ontario’s roads and public transport, said: “Knowing how dangerous their actions were, the crew had to act quickly when there was a possibility of not hitting them.”

“Incidents like this are too often tragic and life-changing – not just for loved ones, but for the crew and first responders involved.”

The children ran away as the crew began salvaging to get the train moving again.

Bosses at Metrolinx have issued a call for their parents to get in touch.

Steve Weir, Metrolinx’s manager of customer protection services, said: “We don’t want to come across as punitive, but we are keen to speak to your children to educate them and make sure they never take a risk like this again.”

Other parents were asked to take the opportunity to talk to their children about the dangers of walking or playing on and around train tracks.
