Tommy Fury in talks to fight Jake Paul in August after American confirms return date

Fury, 23, was due to fight the YouTuber-turned-pro boxer last December with only a rib injury and bacterial infection to put those plans on hold.
Paul faced off against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley for the second time in six months, securing a KO win to extend his record to 5-0.
The American is set to return to the ring on August 6 and recently confirmed he and Amanda Serrano will both fight in a card at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
According to his father and trainer John, Fury is fit to face Paul that day. But other options are also on the table.
“We’re looking at Jake Paul’s situation but there’s still a long way to go,” said Fury Snr Metro.co.uk courtesy of Freebets.com.
“It’s still pending and in the air, lawyers are dealing with it as we speak. If not August for Tommy’s next fight, then September, because until then we’ll be busy ourselves.
“I don’t care what Jake Paul does unless we fight him, but he’s good for boxing. He brings new eyes and makes a lot of noise.
“We’re trying our best to get the fight over the line with Tommy, but there are a couple of key factors that we’re trying to iron out and if we can, we will, and if we can’t, someone else will be.
“Whoever is out there and it’s reasonable, we’re going to do it.”
Fury last struggled in April when he secured an eighth win of his career with a comfortable points win on the card between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte at Wembley.
That victory came over Daniel Bocianski, an opponent who had previously suffered just one loss in his career, and Fury Snr was keen to see his son test himself against improving competition.
‘[There are] no specific names we’re looking for, obviously we’re looking for a good opponent. His last opponent was 10 and 1 and Tommy got the job done with relative ease,” said Fury.
“This fight should have ended in my opinion so we’re just looking for a good opponent and someone who can give him a competition and show off his skills. Anyone will do it if they can do a job.’
The light heavyweight contestant was recently on holiday in Dubai with girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague and returned home last week.
“He’s on time off after the April fight and enjoying life,” said Fury Snr. “He’s just started back up with strength training and programs here and there, but nothing serious. Until his next fight is committed and confirmed, his serious training begins. But at 23 you get fit quickly.”
