As @theel_inloser points out, condoms aren’t too small, but research has shown that most of the time the opposite is true. Simply put, condoms are often too big for the wearer, which can cause problems.
A study published in 2014, later referenced by the New York Times, noted that until recently, standard condoms had to be at least 6.69 inches long. However, the study found that the average penis length in America was 5.57 inches — about an inch shorter.
That Times Article noted that this can cause condoms to fall off or be uncomfortable or uncomfortable to wear. Curiously, the article also found that individuals with shorter penises might actually perceive that they are too big for a condom, simply because of a condom’s typical construction.
Larger condoms will need to be rolled at the base to ensure a proper fit. As Ron Frezieres, vice president of research and evaluation at the non-profit organization Essential Access Health, explains, this results in “smaller men [having] a big latex roll at the base of the penis”, which could explain the feeling of being “too big” for the condom.
A TikToker below the video made a similar point. “Fitting and being comfortable are two different things,” the user noted. “If they think it doesn’t fit, they’re probably buying the wrong size.”
While this information was acknowledged, TikTokers still used the video as an opportunity to snub anyone who claimed they were too big for a condom.
“It was very difficult not to laugh at men who said that when I was working in an adult entertainment store,” wrote one user.
“Dude EXACTLY LMAO,” said a second. “They just don’t want to wear one, so they lie.”
