A Jack in the Box customer reached out to TikTok to get the fast food business up and running after a drive-in interaction left him dissatisfied and confused.
Alex Duran (@the_durans) filmed him pulling up to a Jack in the Box driving in the Houston area at some point after dark. He told the employee on the other side of the speaker he wanted to order 16 tacos, but was told they were “limited to six tacos per order” because they were initials.
“Only two people here,” explained the worker. “Me and another person.”
Duran insisted that he wanted all 16 tacos, so the cashier suggested he order six, go back to the driver’s seat, order six more, and repeat. Understandably, this is not a solution he is particularly interested in.
“That makes no sense. You’re still going to have to make banh tet anyway,” exclaimed another person in the car. “It doesn’t make sense for me to back off, man. That doesn’t make any sense, man. I still have to go back and get the damn banh tet. ”
Another employee was on speaker and told Duran they would make 16 tacos and bring them out for him if he could just go into the parking lot and wait, and he agreed.
While Duran and his friend’s frustration with the situation is understandable, viewers explain that the staff members may also be in dire straits.
“That’s because they’re timed,” wrote @sicasimprint_, perhaps alluding to timer commonly used in fast food driving lane to monitor employee performance.
Another viewer also pointed out that “it gives the ppl behind the opportunity to order” without having to wait too long, while @trapmoneymarie stated that “after 10pm Jack in the Box will actually try to just schedule it for 2 people to work”, repelled with the idea that the night crew was simply lazy.
Of course, many restaurants and fast food outlets have complained about not enough staff the later, that can also play some role.
It looks like Duran and his friend ended up receiving 16 of their tacos, though why they shot this interactive scene in the first place remains a mystery.
The Daily Dot has reached out to @the_durans for comment.
