A TikToker has gone viral after claiming she was denied boarding a bus because of her service dog. When she begged the driver to let her on, she said he finally gave in and allowed her to get on the bus – but forced her to sit in the back.
The video posted by user CJ (@cj_inroom217) shows CJ wearing headphones on a bus while the text overlay describes her claim.

“All of you, the bus driver, refused to let me on the bus WITH MY SERVICE DOG,” she writes in the caption overlaid on the video. “I finally said we can speak to the police if you want and this man said fine but made me sit in the back of the bus (even though I had paid to choose my seats???)”
In comments, CJ explains that she has a service dog because of a “stress disorder.” However, she notes that incidents like this “only cause [her] more stress.”
Commentators sided with CJ, with many suggesting that she take legal action against the bus driver or the company.
“Better get his name out and complain to the company,” wrote one user.
“You should definitely speak to the company or tell a lawyer and keep the bus ticket as proof of your route,” agreed a second viewer.
“I’m so sorry that this is so blatantly illegal and a horrible way to treat someone,” added a third.
The Americans with Disabilities Act protects people with disabilities and enshrines their right to take service animals on many modes of transit. This includes both public and private buses.
Despite that limited legal protection, CJ explained in comments that this wasn’t the first time she’s felt offended over details about who she is.
“It’s kind of sad that, by and large, this wasn’t even close to the worst thing that’s happened to me [because] my disabilities/race/mental illness,” she wrote. “I wish I had a platform to speak up for people like me who just can’t live and function [because people] no matter [about] us.”
