TikToker say you need to be fake as f*ck in the American companies

If you’re wondering what it takes to thrive in America’s corporate world, some TikTokers say they have the answer: be fake as fuck.

A TikToker (@notkaityfuqua) recently posted a video saying corporate employees need the ability to be “fake as fuck.” She says company employees should be willing to “lie through”. [their] Teeth.”

Another TikToker named Melanie (@lifebymelaniev) stitched the video and added her two cents.

“It’s so true,” says Melanie. “When I worked in a company, I was often told that you just have to ‘play the game’ – absolutely wild.”

Melanie says there are some people who work at companies who are good at “the game” and don’t mind playing it. But she’s not one of those people. She urges her viewers to remember that if they’re stuck in a corporate job they don’t like, there are other options.

“When you work in a company, it can feel like it’s the only way to make a living because everyone around you is doing it, obviously because they’re your co-workers,” Melanie says in the video. “But if you don’t like it, there are other options.”

A viewer asked the creator for clarification on what “playing the game” means.

“Does playing the game mean having to join someone else’s narrative?” they wrote.

In response to the question, the creator wrote, “Regardless of what I’m told, it was a mix of acting and even pretending + complying with requests from upper management even if you disagree.”

Other viewers wholeheartedly agreed with TikToker.

“100%. Play the game. Talk what people want to talk about. It’s awful and why did I get out,” commented one viewer.

“It’s like Survivor. I’ve been doing this for 20+ seasons,” commented another viewer.

Several other viewers said corporate work was “exhausting” and even “soul-sapping.”

The Daily Dot reached out to the creator via a TikTok comment.
