TikToker Goes On Non-Refundable Spring Break Trip With Ex-Boyfriend

A TikToker has gone viral after documenting a non-refundable trip to the Caribbean she took with her ex-boyfriend.

Posted by user Lydia (@lydia_bird3), the clip shows her ex-boyfriend Jaeden carrying bags through the airport. In the overlay text, Lydia writes, “Pov [point of view] You and your ex bought a non-refundable international spring break trip.

“Wish us luck,” she added. As of Tuesday, the clip had over 11.3 million views.

Initially, TikTokers found humor in the situation and predicted that the journey would end with Lydia and Jaeden being back together.

“Should he take the photos while he’s on vacation now?” asked one user.

“Yep, they’re definitely going to team up,” said another.

“$20 gets them back together,” added a third.

However, as Lydia posted more videos from their time together, users became suspicious of whether Lydia and Jaeden were actually ex-boyfriends. In a follow-up on TikTok with 4.8million views, Lydia said the exes’ request for two separate beds was denied, causing a major disagreement.

“Why do I feel like they’re still in a relationship but they’re only doing it for clout?” asked one commenter.

“With this Def for clout, no one can change my mind,” added another TikToker.

Despite the skepticism, Lydia and Jaeden do appear to be ex-boyfriends — judging by posts from Lydia’s other TikTok account, @dumbblonde493. In a TikTok post on February 8th This year, Lydia addresses Jaeden as her “ex,” though the caption reads, “Never trust when I say we’re just friends.”

Lydia only posted on TikToks on February 28, identifying Jaeden as her ex.

In an interview with Daily Dot, Lydia confirms that events unfolded as they appeared in her TikToks and Instagram posts (@lydia.bird).

First, Lydia provided some background information about her particular situation.

“So my ex-boyfriend Jaeden and I were together for two years,” she tells Daily Dot. “A few months ago we booked a trip to the Dominican Republic through Cheap Caribbean for spring break. As I later found out, we didn’t take out travel insurance because we didn’t expect a breakup. However, we broke up a little over a month ago.”

Lydia says she made every effort to change the reservation, including trying to pay for her half and giving the tickets to Jaeden. However, as she tells Daily Dot, “He talked me into going because it was an exciting opportunity.”

Eventually, the ex-couple hit the road, posting the original viral TikTok together before they departed.

“I was aware [of the TikToks] all the time,” Jaeden (@jaeden.lemelin) tells the Daily Dot. “We posted [the first TikTok] before our flight and when we got off it had over 4 million views.”

Lydia and Jaeden’s Instagram accounts both contain images from the same location in the Dominican Republic.

The ex-boyfriends like to look back on what they experienced. Lydia says it was “perfect,” and Jaeden adds the trip was “amazing.” As Jaeden puts it, “We dated for almost two years and only recently broke up, so it really wasn’t awkward at all.”

For anyone who’s cheering on their journey with the ex-couple after all their posts, both Jaeden and Lydia have bittersweet news. They are not a couple again – but as friends they are content.

“There were several arguments that made things a bit rocky,” Lydia shares. “However, I believe ex-boyfriends can still be friends and have a good relationship… Friendships and working through issues can turn a past relationship into a friendship.”

Jaeden agrees. “I wouldn’t say we’re the best right now,” he says, “but we’ll always be close and friends.”
