TikToker finds neighbor’s dog at home in TV video

A TikToker says he found – and rescued – a neighbor’s abandoned dog at a shelter in a viral video.

TikToker, @sunnyvaletrailerpark, filmed himself walking to the dog at the shelter and posted the video to TikTok, where it has been viewed 6.8 million times. He alleges that the dog was abandoned on the street by his neighbor before being picked up by animal control. The TikToker appears to have visited three shelters and made four phone calls in hopes of finding the puppy, according to the video’s caption.

“I found my neighbor’s dog and adopted him, We gave him the life he deserved,” the caption read.

TikToker polished the video with audio: “You’re coming home to me.”

In the video, the dog wags its tail in the shelter’s kennel as soon as it sees the TikToker up. On the other hand, the dog remained calm while the other dogs barked out of excitement. @sunnyvaletrailerpark says it’s because the dog recognized him.

“You could say he recognized me,” @sunnyvaletrailerpark wrote in the comments. “All the other dogs were barking and he was like, ‘is that really him?'”

The dog, which he eventually named Doakes, was one of two owned by TikToker. He recommends Doakes and Dexter in his TikTok account, which boasts more than 100,000 followers.

Commenters are praising TikToker for rescuing Doakes from the shelter and giving him a good home.

After adopting Doakes, @sunnyvaletrailerpark said in a comment that he has moved to a “nice place” with a yard for his two puppies and that he doesn’t trust Doakes’ previous owners.

“The previous owners abandoned him on the street,” @sunnyvaletrailerpark wrote. “He was picked up by animal control. I adopted it from the shelter. Sell the house and move out. I didn’t trust people. They have been in and out of prison. I also moved to a much nicer location (with) fenced in yard for the dogs. ”

Daily Dot has reached out to @sunnyvaletrailerpark about their journey with Doakes and Dexter via TikTok direct message.
