One customer says the car he rented from Turo, a carsharing company, honked every time he spun the wheel in a now-viral TikTok.
In the video posted by TikToker Ujjwal (@its.ujj) on Saturday, he shares that he rented the “cheapest Turo in LA,” but there was one big problem.
“Every time we turned the steering wheel, it honked and people stared,” reads the text overlay. “The owner accused us of wrecking his car and called us a ‘bunch of kids’ when we told him about the problem.”

The video shows a man driving around while the car honks as it turns. Ujjwal also notes in the video that the horn would also honk randomly.
“If you think that’s bad, just wait until you see the replacement car the owner gave us,” reads the caption, hinting at the follow-up video in which Ujjwal shares troubles with his next vehicle .
The first video has amassed over 109,000 views as of Monday. Several commenters shared their own experiences with Turo rentals.
“Once in LA I was renting a Turo that wasn’t supposed to be on the street without knowing it and I was pulled over and searched and then it was towed,” one user wrote.
“Turo is a joke. Such cars exist for customers. For owners, your car gets ruined and you don’t get enough money for it,” said another.
“I once rented a Mercedes from Turo and there were several issues. Oil leaks and pears out. The owner has not done any maintenance,” added a third.
In the follow-up video, Ujjwal says the owner offered a replacement car after “multiple complaints”. However, a clip shows the replacement vehicle’s alarm going off in a parking garage with the text overlay: “The new car’s alarm kept going off and we couldn’t turn it off.”
Ujjwal says they tried driving it to see if the alarm went off, but an additional clip shows the car’s alarm ringing as they pulled out of the parking garage. The video is captioned: “The owner ended up replacing the car with another Prius, this one was kinda a million times worse.”

In the comments, several users speculated that the owner is renting out stolen vehicles due to the condition of the cars, but these speculations are unconfirmed.
“Wouldn’t be surprised if they were stolen cars. SMH,” wrote one user.
“Sounds like this owner is renting out stolen cars to me,” said another.
