TikTok shows Wendy’s Sign Offer to hire the same day, pay the next day

ONE popular TikTok put up a sign outside Wendy’s saying that the restaurant will hire workers the same day and pay them the next day.

User @arp.2020 filmed and posted a short clip showing the recruitment ad. The clip has received 151,000 views since it was posted. Text overlay that says “Tell me [you’re] Desperate for workers without telling me [you’re] despair for workers”.

On a Wendy’s railing, a banner reads: “Currently Hiring. Work today, get paid tomorrow. Apply today. ”

One commenter wrote: “Recently everywhere near me is doing the same, and they still can’t find workers.” Another said, “My employer has a banner saying, ‘work any hour, no drug testing, no background check.'”

One woman said: “Don’t blame people for not wanting to work in customer service. “I will never go back. Quarantine brings out the worst in humans. “

A comment by Scott Bennett said: “If companies pay well, provide good benefits, and treat people well, there will be no shortages.”

It’s difficult to tell if the Wendy’s location in the video is currently open, but staff shortages at fast food restaurants have become a common problem. CNBC recently report says that “executives of fast food and quick service brands from Burger King to Taco Bell have said that labor shortages are causing restaurants to cut opening hours and, in some cases, menu items”. Even as the report says wages are rising, many workers either don’t believe the increases are enough or no longer want the stress associated with these service-facing jobs.

Many attribute labor shortages in the service sector specifically to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent stimulus checks; however, the trend started at least two years before the pandemic, if not longer, according to Market Watch report since 2018.

The Daily Dot has reached out to @arp.2020 and Wendy’s for comment.
