The Blues have not been at their best in recent weeks, suffering defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Everton, while drawing against Manchester United in their last four games.
Tuchel’s side were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid and are likely to finish third in the Premier League after falling out of the title race some time ago.
The only thing left for them to play is the FA Cup, where they will face Liverpool in the final on May 14.
Following last weekend’s shock defeat to Everton, Tuchel was asked if this had been a week of resetting his squad, which he had actually done without anyone in his team being safe and everyone capable of earning an FA Cup spot win last starting XI next weekend.
“We can’t forget what a player has done up to here and what role he has played. But it’s a bit like that [a reset]and it was time to do it,” said Tuchel.
“Let’s start from scratch and see who’s ready for Saturday, who’s paying attention in three training sessions so everyone feels ready.”
Romelu Lukaku could benefit from this policy as he wasn’t in Tuchel’s starting XI but was able to impress him over time ahead of the Wembley trip.
The German sounded happy with the Belgian ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action and he rewarded Lukaku with a start against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
“We treat him pretty normally and he behaves pretty normally,” said Tuchel of Lukaku.
“I loved that about him from the first minute. I never felt like I was coaching a superstar.
“I’m coaching a hungry guy who wants to score, who’s obviously not happy with how things have gone, who’s still pushing for a better result.
“That’s what counts, it’s the process. He is fully involved and as long as that is the case, he will have our support.”
