Thieves put a ladder on the balcony in the middle of the day and break into the apartment

HALLANDALE BEACH, Florida. – Two men in a pickup truck were able to hit another car to gain access to a Hallandale Beach gated community.

They park the truck, prop up the ladder, and climb onto a third-story balcony, taking their time at the locked door. Although people were nearby, the thieves may have been mistaken for maintenance workers who were only making repairs. Maor Mo, who lives in the apartment, says: “They managed to yank it enough times to open it, but it took a lot of effort. I know by the end of this whole thing they were tired and pissed off,” he says.

They boarded more than an hour later. A man comes in from the balcony.

From his ring camera, Mo says he could see that as he entered, the man was walking towards the dining table.

“(He) shuts down my Facebook portal and thinks it’s the camera, which it wasn’t,” says Mo.

The man is seen with a tool box going straight into another room. Mo called the police when the thief searched the unit and appeared to be on the phone through a headset. Sometimes he looks frustrated because he can’t find what he may have been looking for.

Mo says he has no idea why his apartment would be attacked.

“I’m a music artist and I only have a little bit of studio equipment, but nothing that would justify climbing a ladder to the third floor and breaking through the balcony. It’s all wasted effort.”

When the alarm goes off, the crooks get nothing. Mo fears he has been targeted.

As police investigate, Mo says he plans to move and insists workers and cleaners are the only people who have seen his music gear.

He thinks they may have mistaken his computers and speakers for a safe.

The community is located just blocks off Interstate 95 in Hallandale Beach.

Police are hoping someone has leads on the thieves.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crimestoppers at (866) 493-8477.
