The woman stabbed Sunday afternoon marked the first murder in St. Paul in 2022 – Twin Cities

Police of St. Paul is investigating the death of a woman stabbed Sunday afternoon, the city’s first homicide of 2022.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. at an apartment building on block 100 of Larpenteur West Avenue.

Although official information has yet to be released on Sunday afternoon, a man at the scene said the person killed was his sister, about 40 years old.

Belvin Hill, 50 years old, lives in St.

Hill said he spoke to his sister the night before, when she called to check on him. Their brother passed away recently, and she was unable to attend his funeral on Friday because she was unwell. Their brother’s cause of death has yet to be determined, but he was found unresponsive and likely died of COVID-19, Hill said.

Their family was originally Chicago, he said, but some of the siblings now live in the Twin Cities.

Hill remembers his sister as a good person. “She is very friendly and her door is always open to everyone,” he said.

Hill said his sister is on Social Security with a disability and doesn’t work. She has five children between the ages of 4 and 24. Her three youngest children are being raised by her older sister.
