Parker, 33, died Wednesday (March 30) after battling a stage four glioblastoma brain tumor for nearly two years, leaving behind his wife Kelsey, 32, and their two children Aurelia, two, and Bodhi, one .
Since his death, fans have been campaigning for the band’s hit song Gold Forever to re-enter the charts and hit number one.
The song climbed the iTunes UK Top Tunes chart, peaking at number two and beating its highest number it reached when it was released in 2011, which was number three on the charts.
Originally released in favor of Red Nose Day in 2011, Gold Forever now appears to be heading for number one.
Many fans of the band advertise that people buy the song as a tribute to Parker.
Parker was a member of the band alongside other members Nathan Sykes, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran and Jay McGuinness.
The group scored two number one hits with the songs All Time Low and Glad You Came. They have been certified for 600,000 albums and sold 2 million singles in the UK.
Many of Parker’s fans lobbied on Twitter for the song to reach number one.
One fan tweeted: “Gold forever being number 1 in the UK makes me so happy this is for you Tom.”
Another added: “Gold Forever is still #1 despite Harry Styles releasing new music and honestly I couldn’t be happier.”
Others were stunned that the song charted even though Harry Styles had just released his music video, As It Was.
One said: The fact that Gold Forever stayed at #1…especially with Harry Styles releasing new music.
Many shared the well-loved text “Some days stay gold forever”.
Some shared updates on how they bought the song to take it to number one, with one adding: “Just bought Gold Forever on iTunes to take thewanted to number 1 in memory of Tom Parker xx great.” fan of the wanted
After Parker’s death, the band took to their Instagram account to pay tribute to their beloved bandmate.
The Post read: “Max, Jay, Siva, Nathan and the entire Wanted family are devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our bandmate Tom Parker, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and bandmates this afternoon.
“Tom was a great husband to Kelsey and father to Aurelia and Bodhi. He was our brother, words cannot express the loss and sadness we feel. Always and forever in our hearts.
“Tom Parker 1988-2022.”
Parker’s bandmates also shared photos of themselves on their individual Instagram pages.
They all dubbed them “Dream Team” at the same time and showed the five-piece with the late singer on stage.
She wrote on Instagram: “It is with a heavy heart that we confirm that Tom passed away peacefully earlier today with his entire family by his side.
“Our hearts are broken, Tom was the center of our world and we cannot imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence.
“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and support and ask that we all unite to ensure Tom’s light continues to shine for his beautiful children.
“Thanks to everyone who supported him throughout, he fought until the end. I am forever proud of you.”
