The Uvalde School shooter’s mother was arrested for threatening to kill her boyfriend

The mother of the teenage gunman who shot dead 19 primary school students and two teachers from Uvalde has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill her boyfriend.

Adriana Martinez Reyes, 40, was taken into custody Wednesday after threatening to kill a man she was staying with, according to a police report.

While being tied up, Reyes said she was the mother of “the one who killed all the children in the Uvalde, Texas shooting,” the New York Times obtained on Friday.

Salvador Ramos, the gunman behind the May 24 massacre at Robb Elementary School in Texas, was shot dead after nearly 400 police officers responded and 73 minutes into the ordeal.

Police went to Reye’s Oklahoma City home at 10 a.m. after receiving a call about her threatening to kill her boyfriend.

The boyfriend told police that Reyes “got mad at him and told him before she moved out of that house that she was going to kill him,” the report said. He also said, “He thinks she’s going to kill him while he’s sleeping and he’s scared of her.”

He was identified in court documents as VI Alvarez and told police he was disabled.

After her arrest, Reyes called her boyfriend “insane.” But she said she lives with him because “he’s not that bad and I love him.”

Reyes was charged with threatening violence, assault and physical harm. She was being held at the Oklahoma County Detention Center on $1,000 bail.

Uvalde residents said they did not see Reyes in the town about 80 miles south of San Antonio for a while after the mass shooting. It was not clear if Reyes had moved to Oklahoma City permanently.

When a relative of a Uvalde victim accidentally confronted Reyes on the street almost a month after the massacre, she was caught on video saying she knew Ramos was “a coward”.
