The Sunbreak expansion adds some much-needed content to Monster Hunter Rise

One of the bigger complaints about it, despite its more streamlined approach and faster gameplay “Rise of the Monster Hunters” was the amount of content. Despite the game having a healthy roster of monsters, fans burned through its hunts and missions, quickly leaving many wanting more. Capcom hopes this will whet fans’ appetites Sunset Expansion coming June 30th.

The downloadable content takes players to the Elgado Outpost, a research center connected to a distant kingdom. The deeds of the slayer of Kamura Village – that is the player – has reached the knightess Dame Fiorayne and she comes to seek the hero’s help because her nation is facing the threat of the three lords: Garangolm, Lunagaron and Malzeno.

Sunbreak features a new hub world and new characters. If the Kamura Village chapter was inspired by Japanese culture, then Elgado Outpost and the Kingdom has a distinctly medieval feel to it. Galleus, the commander of the Knights of the Royal Order, wears armor inspired by suits from Europe. Other characters such as the scientist Bahari, the blacksmith Minayle, and the quest giver Chichae wear similar western attire. Only the merchant Oboro seems to fit into Kamura.

A DIVERSE CITADEL
The diverse cultures create a remarkable juxtaposition, and it will be interesting to see if this matters as players explore the Citadel, a new world that includes biomes such as lush forests, frigid mountains, and castle ruins. The region is teeming with new endemic life such as B. Morphed wirebugs and puppet spiders.

They will likely play a role in helping players explore these maps. These new tweaks to traversal help with that new wirebug moves. As if that wasn’t enough, players must achieve a new goal – Master rank. This will likely require a lot of sanding.

THE NEW MONSTERS
Six new monsters were confirmed for the game during the Sunbreak digital event. This includes:

garangolm — This ape-like creature has armored skin and the ability to wield fire and water elements in each hand.

Lunagaron — The Fanged Wyvern uses ice to coat its body. It seems to be a fast Tobi-Kadachi-style opponent.

Blood Orange Bishaten — This is a variant that throws exploding pine cones. That will make it a tougher fight. Maybe it fights like a ground-based bazelgeuse.

Astalos — This fan-favorite monster returns and will terrorize hunters with electricity.

Shogun Ceanataur — This crab-like creature is an old Standb and will drop precious pearls.

Malzeno — Not much is known about this Elder Dragon, other than that it drains the life energy of other creatures. It has a compelling design befitting a flagship monster.
