Her Maj spoke of her hope that the four-day bean will give people time “to reflect on everything that has been accomplished in the last 70 years.”
Buckingham Palace released a new photo of the Queen, 96, taken at Windsor Castle yesterday.
And Harry and Meghan have flown in from the US to join the celebrations.
The Sussexes secretly arrived by private jet and were greeted by three Queen’s Conservation officers, The Sun can reveal.
A source said: “The Queen thought it was the right thing to do.”
In a message shared on today’s official Platinum Jubilee programme, the Queen thanked the millions who prepared street parties and hung the pennants.
She said: “Thank you to everyone involved in bringing communities, families, neighbors and friends together to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee in the UK and across the Commonwealth.
“I know that these festive occasions will create many fond memories.
“I continue to be inspired by the goodwill shown to me and hope that the coming days will provide an opportunity to look back on all that has been achieved over the last 70 years as we look to the future with confidence and enthusiasm.”
The simple 85-word message will resonate with the nation coming so shortly after the death of Prince Philip, the Covid-19 epidemic and the turmoil of the royal family more than two years after Megxit.
