Today, Supermassive Games released a statement confirming that online multiplayer for upcoming theatrical horror experience The Quarry will experience a slight delay. Thankfully, however, the game is still on schedule for a June 10th release across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The announcement comes in the form of an official statement on the game’s official Twitter account, which you can check out for yourself below:
As you can see, online multiplayer has been pushed back a bit and will appear in-game on July 8th, which would be roughly a month after The Quarry’s release. All other features – like local couch co-op and movie mode – will be present at launch.
With so many branching narrative paths and such an emphasis on the single-player experience, it’s pretty easy to see why The Quarry’s online multiplayer might have been put on hold as the team neared the game’s launch date.
After all, The Quarry reportedly has a staggering 186 different endings, so it’s not like the UK-based developer was just resting on its laurels the whole time. Instead, it’s likely that the studio has been busy tweaking and prioritizing the single-player content, as that’s primarily what the majority of fans are looking forward to.
Last but not least, along with the new information, there was also a brand new gameplay trailer, which you can check out below:
The Quarry will be released on June 10th on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
