It took a couple of pals two days to return from the pub – because they had drunk booked a trip to Ibiza.

Dan Evans and Alex Stubbs were out and about in the town of Merthyr in Wales on Friday.

They had started drinking pints in the afternoon but had promised each other they would be home by 11.30pm.

Once it was jokingly suggested to go to Magaluf in Mallorca.

Dan and Alex, spurred on by the courage of the Dutch, agreed there was no time like this.

They hailed a taxi that took them home to collect essentials before heading to Cardiff Airport.

Dan said: “We stopped at home to collect our passports and phone chargers and then drove to the airport.

“When we got there the Mallorca flight was fully booked but there was a flight to Ibiza so we booked on that one.

“We literally partied all weekend and then when the sun came up on Sunday morning we had to figure out how to get home.”

The friends had booked neither a hotel nor a return flight, but they didn’t let that deter them from their trip.

They bought a pair of shorts and went straight to the Ocean Beach Club before heading to a nightclub.

It wasn’t until the next morning that they began planning their route home.

Dan added: “It was harder to get a plan back but we sorted one out and flew back to London in time to be at work on Monday.

“It was a bit of a shock to the system, but it was worth it.

“We have no regrets and we will probably do it again, but it might be a few years before we can do it again.”

Dan and Alex’s crazy weekend was similar to Rachael Wynn’s in 2019.

She flew to Ibiza after becoming “absolutely p****d” at a christening in Manchester and spent more than £700 trying to travel back in time for work.

Rachael had arrived on the Spanish island around 9am, wearing the silky jumpsuit from the day before and carrying only her phone, bank card and passport.

Barely able to remember how she got there, she was forced to rely on the kindness of strangers who gave her clothes and allowed her to shower and brush her hair.
