The latest Meghan Markle news: Rejected Prince Harry ‘poses a BIGGER problem for the royal family than ANDREW,’ claims pundit

For Prince William, life begins at 40

The old adage ‘life begins at 40’ may apply to the Duke of Cambridge as he prepares for a more important role in the decade to come.

William appears ready to begin the next step of his life in the monarchy, which will ultimately see him become king, after focusing his efforts on issues including mental health, homelessness and the environment.

Married to Mrs Kate for more than 10 years and with a young family – they will be the face of the modern monarchy for decades to come.

With the deaths of his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh, and brother, the Duke of Sussex, stepping down as working king, his position as senior royal is even more important and he appears to have played a part in the ‘family decision’ to limit the Duke of York’s role at the recent Garter Day service.

Williams’ early life was marred by the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, in a car accident in Paris in 1997, and he still speaks about her influence, including how, as a young boy, she took him to a shelter for restless sleepers and introduced him to that issue of homelessness.

He found love at university meeting with fellow student Kate Middleton, whom he would marry at Westminster Abbey in 2011, and the couple had three children, firstborn George – also a future king – in 2013, followed by Charlotte in 2015 and Louis in 2018
