“The Last Of Us” Episode 8 broke a series record

HBO has a long history of smash shows, and they recently added a new one to the pile: The last of us, the adaptation of the popular dystopian video game. It even got the kids into Linda Ronstadt and Depeche Mode. Its eighth and most recent installment tackled the most terrifying part of the game, but instead of putting viewers off, it helped it become even more popular.
According to ScreenRant, Warner Bros. Discovery reports that Episode 8, titled “When We Are in Need,” drew an impressive 8.1 million viewers, based on Nielsen and first-party data. It’s a record for the show, beating Episode 4. But that’s not all: The new episode nearly doubled the pilot’s viewership, which drew 4.7 million viewers — its biggest debut since game of Thrones spin off house of the dragon.
It’s no surprise The last of us started swimming. It had a built-in video game audience, not to mention the all-star cast. Doubling up, of course, implies that people not only really like it, but are also telling others to tune in. It’s no coincidence; It is a show that is attracting more and more viewers because of its quality. So kudos to a show that was always supposed to do well but is now exceeding those high expectations.
