The iPhone 15 is said to have a USB Type-C connector instead of a Lightning connector

The iPhone 15 is rumored to come with the USB Type-C connector, ending a more than decade-old relationship with the Lightning connector. Apple’s decision to adopt the USB Type-C connector for iPhone models may improve data transfer and charging speeds, but final numbers are said to depend on iOS support. The market is expected to focus more on the existing USB Type-C-related vendors in the Apple ecosystem over the next year or two. The iPhone 15 is expected to launch in the second half of 2023.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, claimed in a tweet that its latest survey conducted suggests that Apple’s “2H23[second half of 2023] new iPhone” will ditch the use of the proprietary Lightning Connector port and adopt the USB Type-C connector like the rest of the industry. The analyst added that the move will enable faster transfer and charging speeds on iPhone.

In another tweet In the same thread, the analyst said that the existing USB Type-C-related vendors of Apple’s ecosystem, which makes up products like the IC controller and connector, are expected to become the focus of the market over the next year or two Huge orders coming from the launch of USB Type-C accessories.

If the rumors are true, the iPhone 14, which is expected to launch later this year, will be the last iPhone in the lineup to feature a Lightning connector.

Yesterday, a tip said that the iPhone 14 will have a slightly larger screen than the iPhone 13. The screen size change is a result of Apple’s alleged decision to ditch the notch and add narrower bezels to the phone.

Introduced with the iPhone 5, the Lightning connector port was one of Apple’s longest-running proprietary connector ports. It added the USB Type-C connector to the MacBook Pro back in 2016 and has since introduced the connector to its other MacBook models.
