The father’s story of how his daughter died under surveillance

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FL. – Local 10 News heard from the father of a 2-year-old girl say he was hit by a car, which then drove off.

Last Thursday, Mickenson Cherident was visibly distraught and we asked him questions about the car he says hit him, his wife and the toddler in northwest Miami-Dade.

Through a translator, he said he didn’t know the color of the car or the make. We then received grainy surveillance video of him showing what he thought the car was.

But now there is a twist in the story.

Local 10 News asked Jackson Janvier, the pastor and spokesman for the family who helped translate into English what Cherident told us about the hit-and-run.

“We heard that no car was involved. That they might have fallen off their bikes,” we said to Janvier.

He replied: “I can’t say anything about that. The case is under investigation.”

On Thursday, the parents were questioned by police for more than 7 hours after they found inconsistencies in their story.

That prompted us to ask Janvier: “Did you hear that they made up the story because they were afraid of immigration issues?

“I don’t think so, but that could also happen. OK?” said Javier.

We know that the police seized a bicycle at the crime scene.

We asked Janvier what he thinks happened.

“I think there’s something wrong,” he said.
