A mother was left stunned after finding her missing package on her baby in her pram outside her home.

The unnamed woman posted online and said her child had been left in a stroller on the doorstep and after expecting a delivery she went out to find her grocery parcel on top of her sleeping baby.

The mother from Sweden said the large box of Hello Fresh groceries almost “choked” her baby.

She wrote on Instagram: “Congratulations… You crushed a sleeping baby in his stroller with a 10kg package and you have no shame. Thank god the baby is fine! Never again!’

Camilla Gervide, a blogger who shared the case on her website Bloggbevakning (Blog Report), said the woman called the responsible logistics company, Gordon Delivery, and was initially offered 250 Swedish kroner (£20) in compensation.

The company said its courier was shocked when informed of the error.

“When no one answered, the driver wanted to leave the package in front of the front door but found the surface was too damp,” Mikael Sahlsten, a company spokesman, told Aftonbladet newspaper.

“So he thought the stroller would be more practical. He didn’t see the baby. The mother called us immediately and we immediately contacted the driver.

“He was very sorry about the whole thing. He drove back to the customer and apologized with flowers and chocolates. He also wanted to know how the child was doing.’

In a subsequent Instagram post, the mother wrote that the courier “almost burst into tears” when he knocked on her door to apologize.

She has since received two free deliveries to make up for the incident.

The custom of leaving babies outside is fairly common in Sweden and other Nordic countries, even in relatively cold weather.

Parents are traditionally encouraged to take their children out into the fresh air in the belief that they will sleep longer and develop stronger immune systems.

However, there is little conclusive evidence that this makes children healthier.

Have you ever had a dodgy delivery? Or did a courier leave a package in a bizarre place? Perhaps your Christmas presents were left on the roof or a birthday present was thrown over your wall?
