A coroner has ruled Kiely Rodni’s death in August was an accident.

Officials said there was no evidence of foul play after the teen’s body was discovered in her car, which had submerged in a lake, on August 23.

“This decision is based on the pathologist’s determination that her death was the result of drowning and that there was no other information to indicate that she was the victim of foul play,” the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office coroner said in a Explanation.

Rodni went missing after attending a graduation ceremony at a campground on the banks of Prosser Creek Reservoir near her home in Truckee, California, in August. Her disappearance sparked a week-long manhunt for the missing teenager, who authorities initially believed had been kidnapped.

Her body was found over two weeks later when a volunteer dive team searched the bed of Prosser Creek Reservoir.

Adventures with Purpose, a dive team specializing in investigating cold cases, volunteered to comb the reservoir, although investigators had already done so.

Using sonar equipment, the divers were able to locate Rodni’s car after just 35 minutes of searching. Her body was found in the vehicle.

It is still unclear how Rodni’s car got from the road to the lake. The coroner did not share the results of the toxicology test ordered immediately after her body was discovered.

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crime scene. The roads from the campground to the town of Truckee are narrow and winding, but some investigators don’t think that explains the situation.

“It doesn’t add up,” Adventures with Purpose’s Doug Bishop told Fox News Digital in September.

According to the divers, Rodni’s body was found in the hatch of her car. If her car accidentally fell into the lake, she would most likely try to escape through the doors or windows.

‘You’re not going to crawl into the back seat and climb under a seat,’ Bishop said.
