The customer goes to a local coffee shop and requests a Starbucks menu

In a viral TikTok, a barista at a small coffee shop says one of Starbucks’ “crazy regulars” walked in and demanded that he make it a dish off the Starbucks menu. The creator says he’s been getting these regulars since the Starbucks down the street closed.

In the video posted by TikToker Dean Redmond (@deanredmond) on June 3, he says a customer walked in trying to order an “ice caramel nitro cold brew with coconut milk.” Redmond says he explained that the coffee shop he works for doesn’t have nitro-cold-bree or coconut milk, but offered to make her something similar with oat milk instead.

“I bring her this caramel iced coffee because we don’t have nitro cold brew and she says ‘Ew. This coffee tastes watered down,” Redmond says in the clip.

He explains that she asked him to remake the drink with espresso and that he didn’t charge her for the first drink she didn’t like. When she tried the second drink, Redmond said she said it tasted “even more watered down.”

Redmond goes on to say that she then ordered a “hot caramel macchiato with whipped cream,” but was still unhappy with the drink, saying, “They do it so much better at Starbucks.”

“So I give her her bill because the hot caramel macchiato had oat milk in it, and at my store we charge an extra dollar for non-dairy milk. I hand her the bill and she says, ‘You didn’t just bill me for oat milk. They don’t do that at Starbucks,’” Redmond says. “I hand it back to her and say, ‘I’m sorry, I have to bill you for this.'”

He says the customer then asked for “a name to call” to complain that he was charging her for oat milk.

“So I give her a name to call, I give her a number, and she calls the woman and she’s like, ‘Sorry, your worker is charging me for the non-dairy,'” Redmond explains. “She’s like, ‘Yeah, we literally taught him that.'”

Redmond says when the customer hung up, she claimed the woman on the phone said he didn’t need to charge her. The TikToker reportedly told her he overheard the woman on the phone telling the customer she had to pay for the oat milk.

“She said, ‘Whatever. I’ll only go to Starbucks from now on,” says Redmond.

The caption reads, “And she ended up writing a review that was basically about never going here and going to Starbucks.”

The video was viewed over 403,000 times as of Tuesday, with many commenters cheering the customer and pointing out that Starbucks does in fact charge for non-dairy milk.

“Starbucks charges for non-dairy milk, extra flavor shots, soda pop, sweet cream, extra espresso shots, refills. she just doesn’t pay attention,” wrote one user.

“Yes, Starbucks literally charges 70 cents more for oat milk. I don’t know what this lady is talking about,” said another.

“You made her three drinks and charged her for one. People are so entitled,” added a third.

Several users posing as Starbucks employees also commented that this behavior was typical of some of their regular customers.

“Starbucks workers here! Yes, that sounds exactly like our regulars, sorry,” one wrote.

“I swear I deal with customers like this on a daily basis. I got yelled at for charging a lady 5 cents extra,” said another.

“As someone who has worked at both local coffee shops and Starbucks. Starbucks customers are sooo much worse,” added a third.
