TikTok firmly believes that all Department of Motor Vehicle employees have the same special ability — to humiliate anyone who walks through their door.

A popular YouTuber’s video of a recent DMV visit has racked up over 2 million views and sparked a heated discussion.

“I believe that to work at DMV you have to be able to humiliate people,” says TikToker Dutch (@dutchdeccc) in the original video.

While waiting in line at the DMV, the TikToker said he saw a man arguing with his girlfriend over forgotten documents. An employee who calls Dutch “Miss K” quickly put an end to his nonsense.

“Don’t get smooth with me,” she reportedly told the boyfriend. “I’m trying to help you, your girlfriend is trying to help you, everyone in this place is trying to help you.”

Dutch explains that Miss K then delved even deeper into the boyfriend’s psyche, allegedly saying, “You can’t accept help because your ego is too big.”

The friend was apparently too shocked to reply before being told to step aside.

“Find out and find another window. Not mine,” concludes Miss K, according to Dutch.

TikToker’s attitude towards DMV employees was relatable to many viewers in the comments, which shared their own stories of being humiliated at the DMV.

“My dmv lady said, ‘Don’t smile so much, luck isn’t yours,'” claimed one user.

“DMV staff made me cry and I swear to god they took me to the wine department and a security guard patted me on the shoulder like that was the norm,” shared another.

“I could bring the entire Declaration of Independence and they would still tell me I didn’t have the right document,” joked a third.

One viewer argued that the workers lacked heart.

“The DMV application process consists of extensively selecting the most heartless people and shocking them when they smile,” they wrote in a top comment, which received nearly 4,000 likes.

However, several users defended DMV employees and their often direct, if rough, demeanor.

“They may be heartless, but they are thorough,” explained one TikToker. “The one time I had a nice dmv employee she made 3 different mistakes that I had to go back and fix.”

“They really are the superheroes of this world,” added a second.

The Daily Dot reached out to Dutch via Instagram message.
