The Boxing Day craze sees drunks in costume around town

What do a Christmas fairy, a lobster and a traffic cone have in common?
They were all on the whip at Boxing Day in Wigan, that’s what.
The drinkers were out in full force last night for the city’s annual fancy dress party.
The tradition has been around for decades, and nobody knows exactly how it started – but everyone seems to love it.
A group of Mrs. Clauses, an alien and a pirate were photographed at the party scene on Monday.
Some revelers looked like they were having the time of their lives as they hit King Street and Wallgate.
Meanwhile, others who were spotted slumped on the sidewalks were all getting a bit too much.
But Wigan wasn’t the only place in Britain to be swamped with partygoers last night.
Youngsters meet up with their buddies in Liverpool and Leeds for some post-Christmas drinks.
It comes as the big festive break continues for many people across the UK.
Today is a public holiday, which likely means everyone has more time to sit in their pajamas and eat leftovers.
We suspect there will be a few hangovers this morning as well.
