Texas: Mother and daughter escape from car just before train pulls in | US News

A mother and her daughter ran off train tracks hand in hand seconds before the locomotive rammed into their stuck SUV.
The near-call was captured on video and also showed the father safely escaping the oncoming train.
A total of five family members were in the SUV and all managed to avoid death. Three of them were children under the age of 12 and all were evacuated unharmed, Cody Atchley, who posted the clip on Facebook, told the Daily Mail.
As a Union Pacific train approached in the distance in Forney, Texas, the driver of the SUV pulled into the tracks at a red light instead of in front of the tracks, according to Atchley.
“The arms came down for the train to pass (and) were on the SUV,” he said. “They couldn’t get off because of a vehicle… Just before (the) train caught them, they jumped out and grabbed the kids from the back seats.”
As the mother, daughter and another adult ran, the train hit the maroon SUV in the rear and flipped it 180 degrees so its front was facing the rear of the train.
