Texas school gunman Salvador Ramos was arrested four years ago after saying he plans to “shoot a school” when he turns 18 in 2022, according to a US lawmaker.

Republican Rep. Tony Gonzalez of Texas gave Fox News new details about the Robb Elementary School massacre on Friday morning.

“It wasn’t hearsay. I got it this late last night: The shooter was arrested years ago, four years ago, because he had this plan, basically saying he said, you know, in 2022, when I’m a senior, I’m going to shoot a school ,” said Gonzales.

“Something fell between the cracks between then and now to make this possible. We have to shake out all the facts.’

Gonzalez said authorities need to find out what happened to ensure a similar scenario doesn’t happen again.

“But if law enforcement identified him as a threat four years ago, we need to figure out why he wasn’t — you know how he got rid of it,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez added that he had the impression that Ramos and someone else planned the massacre.

“The police investigated and arrested him,” Gonzalez said. “He went to the juvenile unit, as far as I can tell he went to a correctional facility.”

Texas Greg Abbott has not yet addressed claims that Ramos was arrested as a juvenile. A press conference on the shooting was scheduled for 11 a.m. local time.

Ramos opened fire on Tuesday at the Uvalde, Texas, elementary school, fatally shooting 19 children and two adults.

On Thursday, Texas State Police launched a new investigation into law enforcement’s response when officials acknowledged Ramos was not confronted upon entering campus. Cops who responded first to the incident retreated when Ramos fired on them and waited an hour for SWAT tactical teams to finish him off.

“Initially he walked in unhindered. No one confronted him,” Victor Escalon, a regional director for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Thursday. “Four minutes later, law enforcement agencies come to solve this problem.”
