Tennessee Update: 64% corn and 19% soybeans grown

Better weather conditions helped Tennessee farmers plant many acres in a short amount of time. Corn is 64% grown, now 10 points off last year’s pace and 8% off the 5 year average. Twenty-five percent of the crop has come up. Soybeans are 19% planted and 4% emerged. Cotton is grown at 13%.
Conditions for wheat deteriorated slightly with 59% of the crop being rated good to excellent and 98% broken and 82% top grain.
67 percent of the strawberries are rated good to excellent. 57% of the pastures are rated good to excellent.
Topsoil and subsoil moisture are each 94% sufficient for excess.
