Teenage passenger critical after car crashes into tree

A teenage passenger involved in a single vehicle accident in NSW Central West is in critical condition after being flown to a hospital in Sydney early Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to Orange’s Coronation Drive at around 12:30 am after reports of a Subaru Impreza crashing into a tree.

The 17-year-old passenger was extricated from the vehicle and flown to Westmead Hospital in critical condition.
The male driver, also 17, escaped injury and was taken to Orange Hospital for mandatory tests and then to Orange Police Station, where he is assisting police with an investigation.
The third occupant, a 14-year-old girl who was in the back seat at the time of the accident, also escaped the wreckage unharmed.
Police are continuing their investigation into the accident and have asked anyone who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
A total of 288 people died on NSW’s roads in 2022, up from an all-time low of 275 in 2021. NSW Police said nine people died in the 11 days between 23 December 2022 and 2 January 2023 the streets of NSW.
