Teenage boy and man dead with gunshot wounds

A man and a teenager have been found dead with gunshot wounds at a home on the NSW north coast in a suspected murder-suicide.

Police set up a crime scene at the property at Kookaburra Circuit in Yamba after officers responded to reports that two bodies had been found around 1.10pm Thursday.

Police said they found the 58-year-old man and the 15-year-old boy dead at the home. Both had suffered gunshot wounds.

“Initial investigations indicate the 58-year-old man was a licensed firearms owner and investigators have requested his license history from the NSW Firearms Registry,” NSW Police said in a statement Thursday night.

“Although the investigation by officers from the Coffs Clarence Police Borough is in its infancy, police do not believe a third party was involved. The crime scene is being examined forensically.

Police said a report was being prepared for the coroner and that any information should be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
