A 17-year-old boy is said to have fatally shot his colleague and roommate as she was removing Christmas decorations from their home.

Cayman Wilson was reportedly one of two 17-year-old boys with their colleague at their home in Crosby, Texas. The incident happened around 9 p.m. on Thursday.

The victim’s grandfather identified her as Marissa Dikeman, 19, and told KTRK that she got home from work around 7:30 p.m. Dikeman had gone home to take down Christmas decorations with colleagues who she also considered her friends, the grandfather said.

Both boys were helping Dikeman remove the decorations when Wilson pointed the gun at Dikeman and fired, investigators said.

“To my knowledge, the firearm may belong to the victim’s roommates who were not present at the time of the shooting,” Harris County Sheriff Greg Pinkins told the TV network.

Court documents obtained by the New York Post say Wilson killed Dikeman “while playing with a gun.”

Wilson was charged with manslaughter. He is being held in the Harris County Jail on $150,000 bail.

The other teenager has not been charged.

Dickman’s grandparents called Wilson “a good kid” and said they didn’t want charges to be brought against him.

“It’s bad enough that he has to live with what happened for the rest of his life,” Dikeman’s grandfather told KTRK.

Dikeman is studying education administration at Houston Christian University and is expected to graduate in 2023, her mother told the TV station. She attended Crosby High School and won awards for raising steers, chickens and turkeys.

She worked in the family’s deer processing business less than half a mile from their home on the 4400 block of Sherri Lane, her grandparents said. Dikeman was the youngest of three.

Wilson’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
