BOSTON (WHDH) — A nearby ring camera filmed the moment a massive tree fell on three cars in the South End neighborhood of Boston Tuesday afternoon.
Neighbors along Waltham Street rushed from their homes and a nearby park when they heard the loud crash and subsequent car alarms, and thankfully no one was injured.
“I was right there…right where the leaves and branches were falling,” said Cat Williams, who made it through her front door in the blink of an eye. “Went upstairs and not even two minutes later I heard the loudest crash ever. It sounded like a car crash or an explosion.”
Zach Schulz was in the park with his daughter when he noticed the sea of leaves falling to the ground.
“All we could see were leaves moving and it took us a minute to realize it wasn’t just branches. It was a whole tree,” he said. “It’s huge, it’s taller than most of the buildings there.”
The car owners were all shocked when they heard what had happened.
“I got a call from a police officer,” said Nick Pomposelli, whose Jeep was damaged in the incident. “It’s crazy, it’s not even a storm when a tree that big falls down.”
Other cars were only spared a few centimetres.
“I think we should buy a lottery ticket, right? Might be a good day,” said Blair Morotto, who was parked not far from the scene.
Further information was not immediately available. The police are investigating.
