T20 Blast 2022: Kent Spitfires has re-signed Afghan cinematographer Qais Ahmad for the T20 Blast sequel.

T20 Blast 2020 champion Kent Spitfires has begun his pursuit of next season. They have re-signed Afghan cameraman, Qais Ahmad, for the next season of T20 Blast. Ahmad scored 10 goals in 12 games last season, while he has an economy of 6.65. Qais played a key role in Kent’s title win. Spitfire topped the table, while they beat the Birmingham Bears, Sussex and Somerset in the knockouts.

The 21-year-old spinner has played T20 cricket around the world. He is currently playing in the Big Bash League, while he played in the Abu Dhabi T10 last month. Ahmad also represented Welsh Fire in Hundred, while he ended up being their best pitcher. Qais has expressed his delight at re-signing for the next T20 Blast season.

“I really enjoyed my first season as Kent Spitfire and I’m excited to be back for another season,” said Qais.

“Winning Vitality Blast was very special and something that I will always look back proudly on.”

“It’s been a fantastic dressing room in Kent and I look forward to reconnecting with the rest of the team as we look to defend our title.”

Afghanistan is scheduled to play T20I against Australia in May-June, while there will be the Asian Cup in August-September. Although, Qais is not part of the usual International lineup, and Kent hopes he will play all season for them.

Paul Downton, Kent’s Cricket Director also expressed excitement at Qais’ return.

“We are delighted that Qais will be back to play for us again for the duration of Vitality Blast 2022,” said Paul.

“Besides us having a good striker with Qais quality was the main factor that helped us to control the pace of the opposition and ultimately win the games.”
