The local police and fire department said a suspicious death occurred at Tesla factory parking lot in Fremont, California, on Monday afternoon.
CNBC has reached out to the electric car maker for more information, but a representative was not immediately available for comment. It is not clear if any Tesla employees were involved or harmed.
A local emergency alert from the Fremont Police Department, published via Nixon (a community information service) says:
“At approximately 3:26 p.m. on December 13, 2021, Fremont Fire Department personnel responded to Tesla about a report of an object falling in a parking lot. Firefighters provided medical assistance and informed reported subject dead. Fremont Police investigators are at the scene and have taken over the investigation.”
The Fremont plant is currently Tesla’s only vehicle assembly plant in the US. According to Tesla’s website, more than 10,000 employees work there. The company is building a new facility outside of Austin, Texas.
