Camarena appeared in court on Tuesday. Prosecutors asked a district court judge to lock her up, but the argument went nowhere.

“I am requesting a shutdown at this time,” said Rosebrough.

According to the arrest affidavit, it was a family member who recognized Camarena from security photos and video. Orders show she visited New Mexico’s Islamic Center twice before she was reported to have lit these fires.

“At this point, in your honor, the state will ask for a hearing today,” said Carmen Gutierrez, prosecutor.

Judge Hart made a plea to continue the hearing – meaning whether Camarena will stay in jail before the trial will be determined in another hearing.
