National retailers have acknowledged a shortage of period products.

The shortage of tampons across the country appears to be due to cotton and plastic supply problems.

The war in Ukraine could affect supply as Russia and Ukraine are both big exporters of fertilizers used in cotton growing.

The drought in Texas has also affected cotton production.

According to Bloomberg, tampon prices are up almost 10 percent year-on-year.
