‘Such an incredible event’: Musicians excitedly rehearse for July 4th celebrations – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) — Musicians rehearsing Monday at the Hatch Shell for the July Fourth performance said they were excited to once again perform at Boston’s Independence Day celebration.
The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will return to the Esplanade for the first time since 2019. Chaka Khan will helm the show, while other artists such as Heather Headley and Javier Colon will also take the stage.
Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart said he’s looking forward to performing with Khan and being back at the Hatch Shell.
“This is such an incredible event. It means so much to Boston and having not been able to do that for the last several years we are all thrilled and excited to be back,” Lockhart said. “Everyone is excited, it’s going to be great.”
John Nichols, of concert opener Middlesex County Volunteer Fife and Drums, also said he was happy to be performing for the city again.
“I think it’s great for the community as a whole, especially on our nation’s birthday, to have fifes and drums from the 18th century and it really brings the city as a whole together after such a long time,” Nichols said.
