Subway is giving away free subscriptions to celebrate the new order-style menu

(WXIN/WTTV) – Subway organized a huge sandwich giveaway to celebrate their new menu and ordering system.

The chain added 12 sandwiches to its new “Subway Series” to streamline its offering.

Sandwiches are now divided into one of four categories (Cheesesteaks, Italianos, Chicken and Clubs) with three sandwiches each. According to Subway, all 12 sandwiches are new to the menu, but some effectively replace current options. “The Boss” for example is a revised Meatball Marinara.

Subway said it tested hundreds of recipes before choosing the final 12 sandwiches.

It’s about reducing waiting times for customers. Subway customers typically stand in line and watch as staff prepare their sandwiches, adding items of customer request along the way. Subway Series offerings are intended to be enjoyed as is with pre-determined ingredients.

Customers can still customize their sandwiches, the company noted.

“While guests can still order their custom-made classic, Subway encourages fans across America to try the best sandwich they’ve never made,” reads a press release.

The chain calls this the “most significant menu update” in its nearly 60 years.

The new menu includes a revamped ordering system where diners say a sandwich number or name and let workers know if they want the 6-inch or foot-long version.

The “Subway Series” sandwiches and numbers are as follows:

Cheese Steaks: #1 The Philly, #2 The Outlaw, #3 The Monster

Italian: #4 Supreme Meats, #5 Bella Mozza, #6 The Boss

Chicken: #7 The MexiCali, #8 The Great Garlic, #9 The Champ

Societies: #10 All-American Club, #11 Subway Club, #12 Turkey Cali Club

Subway customers will have a chance to try a free sandwich on July 12th. The company is giving away up to 1 million 6-inch subs at participating locations between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Customers can choose from one of the 12 sandwiches in the Subway series.

The menu change comes a year after Subway decided to overhaul the menu as part of the “Eat Fresh Refresh” campaign. The company has persevered waves of publicity focused on legal attempts to prove that Subway’s tuna sandwich is in fact tuna-free.
