Strong winds whip up heavy surf that threatens to erode the shoreline

The bureau warned of damaging surf in the Hunter and along the north mid-coast beginning late Sunday, which could result in dangerous beach conditions and shoreline erosion.

More severe weather is expected to sweep across the state later in the week, Fraser said, when another cold front will bring strong winds and snow to higher elevations.

“It’s going to be a lot heavier and more intense, pushing the snow potential all the way into the Central Tablelands,” Fraser said.

“There’s a good chance of snowing above 1000 meters on Friday morning… Can’t promise for the Blue Mountains, but there’s definitely a good chance of snow in Orange and Oberon.”

Meanwhile, Sydney will have to make do with good washing weather – dry and very windy, albeit cold. “As long as you fix it properly, you’re fine,” Fraser said.
