That The Strictly Come Dancing countdown has officially begun, and while everyone has been keeping an eye on the seven celebrities confirmed so far, a fake Strictly account is taking the spotlight.

So far, it has been confirmed that Kym Marsh, Kaye Adams, Richie Anderson, Will Mellor, Tyler West, Ellie Simmonds and Jayde Adams will be performing on the legendary dance floor.

And while we look forward to seeing a new batch of celebrities step into the glitz and glamour, an interesting array of stars have been featured on the compelling account – which made me, a TV reporter, do a double take.

Hysterical additions ranged from Nighty Night legend Jill Tyrell, Tesco’s Mary, Chanel the Parrot, good ol’ Ellie from Superdrug and wait for it……. Rebekah Vardy’s cell phone.

Yes, really!

Other notable mentions include: TikTok beverage expert Danielle Walsh, Big Brother star Bonnie Holt, X Factor auditionist Holly Jervis, and Sugababes’ Heidi Range’s me note at the end of Stronger.

It’s safe to say that the regular Twitter updates have sparked a reaction, with some absolutely living for the creative cast, while others demanding a refund of their TV license.

“I can’t wait for Jill Tyrell to hold the glitter ball. Gutted, it’s not Linda or Terry!” wrote one delighted fan.

“I think Rebekah Vardy’s phone and Claire from Come Dine with Me are contenders,” added another.

“Tesco Mary for the win!!!!” tweeted a third person.

It Takes Two host Rylan Clark also weighed in on the madness with a simple tweet reading: “For anyone who really thought we had a PARROT for strictly speaking…. God bless x’

Strict Bosses have announced that the launch show will be taped on Wednesday September 7th.

It’s likely that the show will return on Saturday, September 10, with hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly to welcome this year’s line-up.

“Dust off your dancing shoes, Strictly Come Dancing is back!” they said in a statement.

“The stunning 20th series returns, bringing glamor and stunning dancing back to Saturday nights on BBC One – and we’re delighted to welcome audiences back to the studio for this year’s shows.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas will again be joined by fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on BBC One later this year.
